Nearly 25,000 residences in southeastern Queensland woke up experiencing outages on Monday's dawn after powerful weather events swept through the state, generating wind gusts reaching 109km/h.
Massive Hailstones and Broad Damage
Homeowners witnessed large ice chunks measuring up to 7cm in some areas. Weather authorities verified that multiple regions across the state had been impacted by substantial ice precipitation.

Response teams were working to restore power throughout the damaged zones, with nearly 70 crews activated to manage the extensive power failures.
Victoria's Climate Difficulties
Meanwhile, approximately 1,000 energy customers in the southern state also faced power outages after Melbourne experienced its heaviest rainfall in over 500 days.
Rescue organizations handled 598 emergency reports across the region, mainly for property damage but also for downed trees and inundation.

At one point on Sunday, over 28k power users in the state were experiencing outages.
Climate Outlook
Humid circumstances were forecast to persist along much of Queensland's east this next several days as a low-pressure trough continued to draw in moisture against the coastal areas.
The following day was expected to become the heaviest precipitation period, with continued severe weather risk expected across multiple regions of both states.

Medical authorities alerted that there was an greater possibility of weather-related respiratory issues across the countryside regions, especially given the existing atmospheric conditions.
This caution comes after historical occurrences where comparable situations led to substantial respiratory problems in the region.
